Wholesome Bone Broth

Dairy Free Egg Free Nut Free Gluten Free

This simple broth is an excellent way to increase your children’s nutrient intake. It’s rich in magnesium, calcium, collagen and more. A perfect winter inclusion to boost your child’s immune system and support a healthy digestive system. It can be added to soups, casseroles, stir-fries and any recipe calling for stock or additional water.

Ingredients

Method


1½ kg beef or chicken bones, grass fed and organic
1 leek, finely sliced
2 carrots, roughly chopped
2 stalks of celery, roughly chopped
2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
1 bunch flat parsley
1 tsp Himalayan sea salt
Filtered water
1. Roast bones in oven for approx 30 mins at 180°C (this step is optional).
2. Add bones to slow cooker, add vinegar and vegetables.
3. Cover with filtered water. The slow cooker should be ¾ full.
4. Set on low and allow to cook for approx 12-18 hrs.
5. Add the parsley an hour before switching slow cooker off.
6. Allow to cool, remove bones and store the liquid in small freezer containers.

Tip:
Add to purees, meat dishes, sauces, roast veggies. You can also use the broth to cook rice.
